Two Rival Schools, One Extreme Team!!! Beach Cities Robotics Team 294, is proud to support the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition in Science and Technology) mission of inspiring students to explore their interests in STEM. For 19 years, we have worked to inspire the next generation of students from Mira Costa High School and Redondo Union High School to become future Leaders, Engineers, Innovators, and beyond. By participating in FRC (First Robotics Competitions), our team works to create a competitive robot in six weeks through designing, machining, and programming. Each year, we compete in two regional competitions with the goal of qualifying for the FIRST Championship competition held in April. Through hands on learning and close relationships between mentors, sponsors, students, and our South Bay community, our team has succeeded in winning two World Championships in both 2001 and in 2010. This year, our team has become the largest in our history, with a total of 42 active students (42% female) and 20 mentors from local Aerospace, Manufacturing, and Software companies. We continue to pursue ways to give back to our community by reaching out and supporting local FIRST teams, and participating in various Outreach Events.
